Taste the world's first sparkling wine produced in complete darkness.
Have you ever tried a sparkling wine that has never been touched by light in its entire production cycle? Welcome to the unusual tasting of a unique sparkling wine, produced from the best Chardonnay grapes by the traditional method of fermentation in the bottle. The grapes are harvested on a moonless night by workers wearing night vision goggles. Vinification and maturation are carried out according to the "darkness method" in centuries old cellars that no light has ever reached. Finally, the sparkling wine is put into dark bottles, which are then sealed in a dark foil. The most impressive tastings take place in complete darkness to heighten one’s senses of smell and taste.
There is a screening of a film presenting the story of the Untouched by Light sparkling wine, followed by a discussion of the science of the effect of light on wine. Participants then cover their eyes with special eye covers. The guide puts on night vision goggles, turns off the lights and serves the Untouched by Light sparkling wine in complete darkness.

You can combine the tasting of this unique wine with the Wine Biking Experience. Explore the wine-growing hills by bike and find the birthplace of the first Slovenian sparkling wine, made in 1852.
No more than 2,000 bottles of Untouched by Light sparkling wine are made per year. Tastings are held 13 metres under the castle hill.
The most highly acclaimed Slovenian sparkling wine, Golden Radgonska Sparkling Wine, has been made in Radgonske gorice by the traditional method of fermentation in bottles for more than 170 years. The wine is aged on the lees for at least 24 months. Wine produced in special years can also be aged for 10 or more years.
The father of the Radgonska Sparkling Wine was Anton Kleinošek, who was also a passionate card player. According to legend, he lost his vineyards and his company in a single night. They were then bought by the Swiss-French Bouvier family, distant relations of Jacqueline Kennedy Bouvier, wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy.
