The Brda Stage of the Alpe Adria Trail

The Alpe Adria Trail leads from the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, through the sunny Brda Region in Slovenia to the Gulf of Trieste in Italy. Roam the orchards, olive groves and vineyards lining the Alpe Adria Trail, and get to know the local culture, nature and hospitality. The trail takes you past one of the most impressive natural bridges and the region's steepest workable vineyard. Climb the viewing tower and stop for a break in the charming village of Šmartno. Geocaching

Find the treasures hidden throughout the region by going geocaching. The coordinates of the geocaches or treasures are available online. Enter the coordinates in your GPS device and navigate the hilly terrain of Brda to find and claim your booty.

Safari Brda

 Experience the countryside from a different perspective. Embark on an unusual and memorable adventure amongst vineyards, orchards and olive groves in an off-road vehicle. The route will take you far off the beaten track, over narrow tracks between hills to a terrain inaccessible by regular car.

Sabotin – Peace Park

Retrace the Isonzo Front and walk through the many military passages and caverns carved out by the warring Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies, which were made up of soldiers from 22 nations. Nowadays, Mt Sabotin is the symbolic link between two nations and two countries. From the summit you’ll encounter a wonderful view of Gorizia, Italy, and Nova Gorica, Slovenia, all the way from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea and down to the emerald Soča river.

The Brda Spring Hiking Festival is a great way to explore the picturesque landscape. In autumn, you can toast the season’s new wine at celebrations that honour and celebrate Saint Martin, the patron saint of wine.
