See the landscape from the air, hear the sound of rushing water, feel the adrenaline tension. This is an experience that will change your holidays into an unforgettable life event.
Feel the adrenaline in exciting but safe descents on rafts. Slovenian rivers enable safe rafting. The most suitable is the River Soča, a clear emerald waterway that runs through a picturesque valley. You can experience adrenaline descents with a guide on the upper part of the River Sava, on the River Savinja in Štajerska, on the River Kolpa in Bela Krajina and on the River Krka in Dolenjska. The rafting agencies that organise descents provide all the necessary equipment and transportation.
For all who wish to fly. Descend from one of the Slovenian peaks and enjoy the view as you spread your wings. In Slovenia, there are several paragliding schools where you can learn the basics of flying ... or simply attach yourself to a paragliding instructor and admire Slovenia from the air, safe in the care of a professional. If you prefer to be inside an aircraft, however, why not see how the landscape looks during a panoramic or acrobatic plane flight?
Canyoning is the most adrenaline-pumping water sport. Climbers, swimmers, hikers and nature lovers will certainly enjoy this sport as it combines all of these skills. Negotiate narrow canyons, slide down waterfalls, climb, and jump into clean pools, sometimes up to ten or more metres below. The most popular canyons are Sušec and Kozjak .
Kayak and canoe
In Slovenia, you can rent a kayak for navigating wild or calm rivers and for rowing on lakes and the sea. Rowing in a kayak is an exciting experience on the rapids of the Soča, Sava, Savinja, Krka and Kolpa rivers. For rowing on the calmer Slovenian rivers, lakes and seas, choose the canoe as it enables an easy, quick and agile ride. The most popular canoeing routes are through the Ljubljana Marshes and Ljubljana along the River Ljubljanica, from Žužemberk on the River Krka and on the River Mura. Canoes may also be rented at Bohinj, Velenje and Zbilje lakes.
Negotiating various narrow footbridges and swaying obstacles and walking the rope is a real challenge for everyone. Adrenaline parks in a green environment are great fun and a wonderful way to relax. Test your physical skills and maintain your balance, defy the fear of heights and let your body fill with adrenaline.
Zipline offers a white-knuckle descent via steel cables passing from one bank to the other. Spectacular zip line parks can be found in Bovec and Planica, where you will overfly the giant Planica ski jump, the largest ski jump in the world. In addition to the thrilling descent along steel cables, you will always remember the unforgettable, breath-taking panoramic views of the valley and the nearby mountains.
There is a long tradition of cave exploration in Slovenia as the country has a very extensive subterranean world, particularly in the Karst. In Slovenia, speleologists discover new caves every year; so far, they have discovered over 8 thousand of them but only a little more than twenty are open to visitors.
Slovenia has a wealth of natural climbing walls, so sports climbing is hugely popular. Slovenia is a climber’s paradise that is visited by the best climbers in the world, as well as by complete beginners. Discover the natural walls hidden in the forests of the Štajerska Region, the Karst Edge, or on the periphery of the Alps. Climb higher and higher!
The Soča and Sava rivers are ideal for the hydrospeed adrenaline sport. It allows direct contact with water, because between you and the river, there is only a small river bob – float which you steer with the flippers on your feet; you also wear additional equipment that protects you should you bump against rocks. A guide is there for your safety; the activity is only suitable for good swimmers.
Soča Outdoor Festival
Every year, a sports festival called the Soča Outdoor Festival takes place in Tolmin, Kobarid, and Bovec. Unforgettable sports experiences in water, in the air, on bicycles or in running shoes offer real tests of fitness and endurance.
A fun-packed sport that is ideal for enjoying with friends. Test your courage and inventiveness in a tense shooting confrontation! Numerous polygons full of interesting obstacles and hilly terrains provide an unforgettable experience.
