Prešeren and Other Great Names of Kranj

One Foot in the Town and the Other in the Canyon

The green canyon of the Kokra River offers a break and relaxation in nature, only a few metres away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The rich flora and fauna are visible in the wide array of tree species, flowers, birds, fish and other animals. The old part of the town is also embraced by the Sava River on the other side, and its environment is an excellent location for fishing and fly-fishing.

Experiencing the mountain world in the company of living legends

Conquer the Alpine summits surrounding the town with experienced guides, two of them being Marija and Andrej Štremfelj, the first married couple to stand at the top of the world in the Himalayas and entered the Guinness World Records. With 40 years of climbing experience, they now guide climbing tours on walls, waterfalls and mountain ridges of the Slovenian Alps.

Active on Krvavec All Year Round

Krvavec is a ski resort which offers active and adrenaline filled breaks, relaxation and fun. During the winter, it offers excellent skiing and in other seasons it is a paradise for mountain bikers, paragliders, family hiking trips on the Shepherd Dwarf Trail (Pot pastirskih škratov), adrenaline lovers and nature lovers.

A Photographic Experience of Jamnik

The Church of St Primož and Felicijan at Jamnik with mountain scenery and a giant rising full moon is an inspiration to numerous photographers, who find a different image of nature in every season of the year. The motif offered by the views from Jamnik has become internationally recognisable and an iconic image on social networks.

Beneficent Energies by Lake Trboje

The gravel terrains and rapids of the Sava River under Kranj were replaced by Lake Trboje, which has become home to numerous water birds. The lake was unofficially named Žagarjeva solza (i.e. Goosander’s tear) after one of these birds, the goosander (veliki žagar). The location also hides healing energy points which will calm and cleanse you and have a beneficial effect on your well-being.
