Mediterranean fish cooking workshop with Irena Fonda

In the magical ambiance of the Fonda Fish Garden, right by the sea and a stone's throw from the Sečovlje Salt Pans, you will learn in a small group everything you need to know to become an expert in cooking fish and seafood.

Slovenia unique experience

From beginner to master of seafood cooking

Do you want to learn everything about cooking fish and seafood? Get to know the little secrets of cooking the best seafood dishes in an environment closest to its origin. Literally. You will be preparing various fish and seafood dishes together in a four-hour workshop under the pine trees right by the sea.

Become a master of cooking seafood dishes

It all starts with quality and fresh ingredients. And where could fish and seafood be fresher than directly by the sea? Irena Fonda knows well how to recognise the fresh gifts of the sea and how to cook them in the best way. As a biologist, she will also be able to tell you some more about fish, especially about sea bass, to which they pay a lot of attention at their fish farm. Once you've learned the basics, you'll roll up your sleeves, learn how to properly clean and fillet a fish, and then spend four hours creating exquisite fish and seafood dishes. In a pleasant ambience under the pine trees by the sea, you will cook fish soup, carpaccio, sashimi and raw fish tartare, an appetiser made from smoked sea bass, mussels or other seasonal warm appetisers and fish dishes the Fonda way.

This experience will inspire you to prepare seafood dishes. Your next garden party will have the aroma of delicious seafood, olive oil and be filled with memories from the Fonda Fish Garden!

Did you know?

The most reliable distinguishing sign of the freshness of sea fish is the fresh and pleasant aroma of the sea.

A fish that is a few days old, i.e. matured at a low temperature is tastier than a freshly caught fish.

Bones left after filleting fish and crustacean shells need not be thrown away, as they can be used to prepare fish bouillon.

Farmed fish contain significantly fewer heavy metals and other harmful substances than caught fish.
