Little secrets of the family oil mill in the processing of first-class pumpkin seed oil

Be part of the tradition in which pumpkin seed oil is still processed using the original procedures on more than a century old family machines. Try premium pumpkin seed oil as a Slovenian culinary speciality in its many versions.

A multi-sensory experience of pumpkin seed oil processing

Embark on a multi-sensory journey in an oil mill where the third generation continues the tradition of processing pumpkin seed oil as a protected cultural heritage of Slovenia. You will explore the history of pumpkins, from their ripening in the fields to the picking, cleaning and grinding of pumpkin seeds. They will surprise you with tastings of local dishes that include pumpkin seed oil. You will also be able to create your own culinary experience with pumpkin seed oil and thus become part of the family story.

What to expect from the experience:

• Reception and serving of the first culinary greeting from the oil mill.
• Presentation of the story and tradition of the oil mill and a lecture on the history of pumpkins, their use, oil processing and the importance of protected geographical indication.
• Presentation of delicious dishes that can be prepared with pumpkin seed oil. Guests try pumpkin roll (typical for our region), pumpkin spread, salami with pumpkin seeds, pasta with pumpkin seeds, cookies with pumpkin seeds...). Guests will be able to prepare some dishes themselves.
• A guided tour of the oil mill, where guests are presented with an overview of the work, the pressing machines, mill, press and the pans in which pumpkin seeds are roasted.

• Tasting of pumpkin seed oil and a visit to the tasting room, where guests can relax with a glass of wine or sparkling wine.

Schedule: From 1 January to 30 June and from 20 August to 24 December (prior notice required).
