Simply visit one of the many marked biking trails, and adrenaline junkies can also visit multiple locations for downhill rides on mountain bikes.
Bovec
Bovec is one of the most beautiful biking destinations, with some of the most well-known mountain and on-road tours, some of which stretch to nearly 100 km. A total of 395 km of biking trails leading you through the prettiest corners of the Bovec Region offer pleasure both for recreational cyclists and for mountain bikers.
Tolmin and Kobarid
The towns of Kobarid and Tolmin in the Soča Valley are located where the Mediterranean, the Dinaric, and the Alpine worlds meet, and they offer no less than 73 biking tours and a total of over 2200 km of biking trails. This very dynamic landscape with many mountain roads, forest trails, and dirt roads offers countless opportunities for mountain bikers. Less advanced bikers can go to flatter roads connecting the villages in the valley.
The Koroška Region
The Koroška Region has an exceptional biking infrastructure, and you will surely find the right trail for yourself among more than 1000 km of biking trails. Numerous roads with less traffic as well as forest and biking trails offer various opportunities to bike and experience the unique landscape between the Alps and the River Drava.
Kranjska Gora
Suitable for beginners or experienced cyclists, for families, young people and for anyone who likes to bike in the green Alpine environment. More than 150 km of biking trails are available. To enjoy an adrenaline-fuelled ride across tables, jumps, swings, and other obstacles, head to the bike park, which offers different mountain freestyle options.
Lake Bohinj
A range of mountains with numerous mountain roads and trails for biking trips with various levels of difficulty rises above Lake Bohinj. The diverse natural and cultural heritage serves to enhance your experience on the trail. Lake Bohinj is suitable for family biking on Sundays and for more advanced mountain and on-road cyclists. More than 370 km of biking trails are available.
Tržič
Discover numerous trails for mountain bikers in the vicinity of Tržič. You can choose between 24 mountain biking trails which will take you up and down through forests and meadows, past mountain hamlets and on hillsides. Demanding mountain bikers and also families will be able to enjoy the beautiful mountain nature. Exceptional vistas can be seen along the way and you can regain your strength in many Alpine dairy farms and mountain huts.
The Idrijsko and Cerkljansko Regions
The Idrija and Cerkno Hills with incredible untouched nature offer about 320 cycling trails and routes with various levels of difficulty. You can choose to go on either short and easy or long and difficult routes. Mostly, these routes run on side paths, dirt and gravel roads and meadow and forest trails.
Maribor – the Pohorje Hills
This area offers more than 1000 km of biking trails, from simple to advanced ones, from flat to mountain ones, from downhill to uphill ones, from sports to family ones. You can bike along the River Drava, on the wine-growing rolling hills or the Kozjak Hills, on the forest trails of the Pohorje Hills, in bike courses and on downhill trails, through the city of Maribor and beyond – to the Pomurje Region, the Koroška Region, and to Austria.
The Kamnik and Savinja Alps
The route around the Kamnik and Savinja Alps is popular among cyclists, who can ride around this 130 km ring in one day, or they can extend their ride and make it a multi-day tour. If you prefer a multi-day trip, there is no lack of interesting things to see along the trail. Embark on a bike ride along Alpine rivers with a view of mighty Alpine peaks.
Triglav National Park
We recommend a unique challenge to cyclists. Mountain biking to the Vršič Pass is an unforgettable experience. It is also a pleasure to bike on the wooded Pokljuka Plateau and in Bohinj, one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in Europe with the largest Slovenian natural lake.
