Active and healthy holidays
Take your children to a world that they have never seen before.
You can bike on forest trails or on special biking trails. To spend an active and healthy holiday, choose between a mountainous or coastal environment, Pannonian plains or rolling hills. The choice is yours.
Lake Bled in the vicinity of Triglav National Park is an excellent starting point for all kinds of biking tours. Various roads and trails connecting the villages around Lake Bled are suitable for short biking trips, and the forest roads on the Jelovica, Pokljuka, and Mežakla Plateaus will impress even the most advanced mountain bikers. You can hire a bike and a guide at many agencies in Lake Bled.
More than 150 km of biking trails are suitable for beginners or experienced cyclists, for families, young people and for anyone who likes to bike in the green Alpine environment. If you want to experience your adrenaline pumping, visit a bike park in Kranjska Gora offering freestyle mountain biking options and an adrenaline-fuelled ride across tables, jumps, swings, and other obstacles.
Rateče and Mojstrana
One of the most beautiful Slovenian biking trails leads you from the village of Rateče, through Kranjska Gora, past Gozd Martuljek, and all the way to Mojstrana. The trail is very picturesque, as it partly runs on abandoned railway tracks, across many bridges, and is entirely separated from motor traffic. It has no steep climbs, it has snack bars and beautiful rest stops, hence making it also suitable for children.
Koper – Izola – Piran – Portorož – Sečovlje Salt Pans
The well-known Porečanka (Parenzana) trail will take you along the short, yet diverse and dynamic Slovenian coast. It runs along the former narrow gauge railway line between Trieste (Italy) and Poreč (Croatia) and is suitable for biking and walking. It is ideal for a family trip or for spending free time on holidays actively.
The Podravje and Pomurje Regions
The numerous biking trails connecting and combining four different countries serve as a great starting point for healthy and active holidays. Mostly, the trails are easy, hence suitable for families and the elderly. More advanced bikers can head to the Goričko Hills, the Lendavske Gorice Hills, or to Jeruzalem Hills. Combine pampering yourself at the spas with active outdoor holidays at the Moravske Toplice spa. Take a cycling adventure along the rivers and ride along the Drava from Koroška to Slovenia’s oldest town, Ptuj, or experience the world along the Mura. In total, there are 10 marked trails with a total length of 480 km.
Special care is always taken of bikers at selected Slovenian hotels, hostels, and tourist farms.
