The popularity of cycling in Slovenia is also evident from the numerous cycling events which are enjoyed by many visitors. A Tour of Slovenia

Watch the biggest cycling event in Slovenia! This year’s Tour of Slovenia will take place between 19 and 23 June and will be the 26th in a row. In a quarter of a century it has become a well-known event on the international cycling scene and represents a top-level sporting event that attracts some of the most famous names in the world of cycling every year. Join the growing number of spectators who cheer along the route as well as keep an eye on the tour across the picturesque landscape of Slovenia through media coverage. This year, the cycling race on the roads of Slovenia will again be broadcast by the global television sports network Eurosport. The slogan of the Tour of Slovenia is “Fight for green” which reflects the orientation of the competition towards sustainability.

Ironman 70.3 Slovenia

Test the limits of your strength and take part in the toughest iron challenge on Slovenian coast. In September, the participants of the Ironman endurance challenge and their supporters will be hosted by the four coastal towns Koper, Izola, Piran and Ankaran with each offering a unique Mediterranean experience. The race will start with a jump into the blue Adriatic Sea. The cycling part of the race will pass through the idyllic landscape and picturesque villages of inland Istria while the running part will pass through ancient coastal towns.

Take part in a cycling challenge

In addition to the competitions for professional cyclists there are also plenty of recreational events and cycling festivals with various events for all generations. The most visited recreational cycling event is the Marathon Franja. It is an event with the longest tradition in Slovenia which got its name from the Franja Partisan Hospital Franja Partisan Hospital. Get to know the oldest Slovenian town Ptuj and its surroundings in the Poli marathon. Cycle along the Slovenian coast and its surroundings in the Istrian Marathon. You can conquer the steep slopes of Vršič either with road bicycles in the traditional Ride on Vršič  competition or with cute Pony bicycles. Various cycling experiences with wonderful views also await you at the Bled Bike Festival. You can have a lot of fun at the daytime sports activities and lively evening events at the Soča Outdoor Festival too.

 

Mountain biking enthusiasts should take part in the  Pohorje Bike Festival . Explore the forest paths and the attractions of the Koroška region at the Black Hole bike festival.
