Barcolana, named after the former Slovenian fishing village of Barkovlje, is a traditional autumn international regatta that attracts many boats every year on the second Sunday in October. Did you know that with 2,689 boats participating in 2018, Barcolana set a world record for participation in an international group-start regatta? A regatta that also takes place along the Slovenian coast and in which Slovenians also participate is certainly a feast for the eyes. All boats of at least 6 metres in length can take part. This gives amateur sailors a great opportunity to appear on the start line together with professionals in larger boats.
