Gault & Millau in Slovenia

Gault & Millau is among the three most influential international guides in gastronomy. It is renowned for its toques awarded to restaurants around the world. Restaurants that meet Gault & Millau's criteria may obtain one to five toques and are featured in the guide. 2018 saw Slovenia publishing its own edition of this gastronomic guide. It includes 130 restaurants checked out by anonymous inspectors, of which six restaurants obtained four toques and two were awarded a high rating – 17.5 points out of a possible 20. Gastronomy for four toques

You can eat and drink well in Slovenia. According to Gault & Millau, you will enjoy a particularly exceptional gastronomic experience in certain restaurants. Hiša Franko and Gostilna pri Lojzetu are the highest ranked, and a further four restaurants can pride themselves on four toques.

The famous writer Ernest Hemingway is believed to have written his novel A Farewell to Arms here, while today Hiša Franko is where world-famous chef Ana Roš cooks up her culinary masterpieces. Three toques – great names

Along with restaurants with four toques, a further 25 Slovenia restaurants boast three toques. They include restaurants where individuals noticed and awarded by Gault & Millau critics work, for example, Igor Jagodic from Strelec Restaurant and David Vrečko from Mak Restaurant. Janez Bratovž from JB Restaurant was awarded for his contribution to the development of Slovenian cuisine, Meta Repovž from Repovž Restaurant was declared Traditional Cuisine Chef, while the title of a young talent was awarded to Mojmir Mark Šiftar from Evergreen Restaurant. The best waiter Matic Šubic works at Maxim Restaurant.
