Lora and Primož Roglič: Follow your heart through the wine-growing Štajerska region
The young Roglič family covers many climbs, passes and endless kilometres. Both on the road and in their life as the family of a professional cyclist. For many years, Primož Roglič's inspiring sporting journey has been supported in many areas by his wife Lora Roglič Klinc and their two children. They rarely have time to take a break from the fast pace of races, preparation and training. When that time comes, they can finally breathe easy. At home. Surrounded by the natural wealth they miss so much all year round.
As if for the first time, a magnificent view of Štajerska opens up
Primož uses every kilometre for training. The road from Ljubljana to the eastern part of Slovenia is a good place to prepare for upcoming multi-day races. Lora and her two children set off in a camper van. It takes them on endless roads to races in Europe, this time to Lora's home region – Štajerska, the landscape between the Drava and Mura rivers, in the eastern part of Slovenia.
Between the wine-growing hills of Ormož and the first destination of Jeruzalem, Slovenia's green landscape opens up, with endless vineyards that were planted here by the Romans. Even then, they recognised the richness of the fertile soil of this hidden, hilly landscape bathed in sunshine all year round. It is the combination of all of these things that is the hidden formula for a superb wine that often wins awards at the world's biggest wine competitions. A few more turns to the Sibon Resort, and Primož will be back in the embrace of his family.
Family holiday in a mansion surrounded by endless vineyards
The Sibon Resort showcases a style of tradition with a touch of modernity. The former manor house was transformed into a mansion at the beginning of the 20th century, and its magnificent architecture and 300-year-old wine cellar are reminders of its rich history. Recently, the estate has been completely renovated in the spirit of today's guests' wishes, so that it can offer everyone relaxation, enjoyment and a break from the everyday rhythms of the modern world. For the Roglič family, this is the right choice for a family holiday, allowing children and parents alike to seize every moment to go on family adventures.
The superb cuisine of Prlekija has been elevated to the level of world cuisine, reminiscent of its roots with every taste. Lora and Primož are great lovers of excellent wines, and a family holiday is also a time to enjoy a glass of fine wine. These are priceless moments when Lora puts aside for a few moments all the organisational responsibilities of being a mother and partner of a world-class cyclist, and Primož focuses on his role as a father: playing on the lawn and by the pool, and cycling as a family.
The sun is slowly losing its power, the children's boundless joy is starting to fade away as they all look forward to a good night's sleep. The morning will bring a happy surprise at the Firbas Tourist Farm, where children can play carefree in the embrace of the Štajerska countryside.
Primož also trains during the family holiday, making the most of every cycling route. The bicycle is his life and his family's life revolves around it. Primož often emphasises how important Lora's role is in enabling him to live his cycling dreams and that he feels fortunate to have by his side his wife and partner, who is in large part responsible for his success.
Every moment with his family is priceless
Living in harmony with nature is the perfect formula for the Roglič family, allowing them to recharge their batteries for the many challenges that await them during the cycling season. A morning at the Firbas Tourist Farm is a special experience for the little ones: feeding the animals, collecting eggs for breakfast from the hard-working hens and enjoying relaxing moments over a family breakfast give Primož the strength and energy to face the most demanding cycling races. Lora often points out that thinking about his family gives Primož extra energy in the most difficult moments.
On the Drava Cycling Route to the oldest town in Slovenia
After breakfast, Primož's mind and body return to continuing the cycling season and preparing for new challenges and successes that delight fans around the world. During his family break, he combines training with discovering one of the longest cycling routes in Europe, which links four countries – Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Croatia – over 710 kilometres. The stage from Ormož to Ptuj is flat and leads to the old centre of Slovenia's oldest town, and the route continues past Lake Ptuj, the largest artificial lake on the Drava River.
