Notably, Condé Nast Traveler does not recognise the country’s green potential only in rural areas, but also highlights cities, primarily Ljubljana – the first European capital to adopt a zero-waste strategy and boasts more than three-quarters of green areas and parks.

Sustainability efforts and a responsibility to preserve green nature and cultural heritage have been firmly anchored in the Slovenian consciousness. Due to the changed conditions at home and internationally, we’ve taken a step further. While paying great attention to high hygiene standards, we combined all of the above under the Green & Safe label.
Although there’s an abundance of natural and cultural treasures in Slovenia, some of them shine particularly bright. Some of the most scenic gems of Slovenian tourism have been placed on top destination lists by a number of global tourism media sources. Make your own list and prepare to be stunned by Slovenia’s greatest attractions.
Slovenia provides excellent opportunities to spend your free time actively. You can find more than 10,000 kilometres of well-maintained hiking trails leading from the plains to the highest peaks. Cycling is popular, too, whether in the form of a relaxed family activity or an adrenaline-packed mountain bike descent. Clean waters provide enticing water experiences, and the winter idyll is an invitation to enjoy activities in the snow.
Having become excited about our green country after reading all of these compliments, you’ll want to plan your journey around the experiences that attract you the most. Spoil your taste buds, pamper your body, relax in nature or enjoy an active holiday – Slovenia caters to all tastes.
