In a country with the word LOVE in its name, it is bound to be a hit with couples looking for romance. Slovenia will awaken your senses and let visitors make lasting memories that will remain etched in their hearts forever.

The TV stars from the UK, Aljaž Škorjanec and his wife Janette Manrara, spent time at some of the best visitor attractions in Slovenia which happen to be some of their favourite places to visit when they are in the country visiting Aljaž's family. They also allowed their holiday to be filmed for an exciting feature to be shown on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’.

The first part of the programme was aired today, the second is due to be aired in the UK next Tuesday, 23 May, and the third again on Tuesday, 30 May. This is how their fans can catch up on all the fun of the trip and see some of the beautiful places they visited in Slovenia.

Their trip was supported by the Slovenian Tourist Board, which hopes that the show will increase the visibitility of Slovenia in the UK market and inspire them to visit Slovenia.

Following in Aljaž and Janette’s footsteps

Which places did former Strictly stars visit in Slovenia?

1. They dropped into Lipica Stud Farm, cradle of the Lipizzan horses and the biggest Lipizzan stud farm in the world which has been in operation for over 400 years. On a tour of the estate, expert guides will share the special features of Lipica and the fascinating story of these famous horses.

2. Also on the schedule was a stop at  Zlati Grič, the stunning winery among rolling vineyards close to Slovenske Konjice. This was clearly a special place for them to revisit as the couple married at Zlati Grič in 2017.

3. The couple also visited Lake Bled and Bled Castle. No visit to Slovenia would be complete without taking in Bled - this charming alpine resort at the edge of the Julian Alps is a must-see. Visitors can explore Bled Castle or take a boat trip out and learn all about Lake Bled’s fascinating stories and folklore which have been preserved and passed down through the ages. It’s a great way to see the area from a different perspective – from the water. Bled is like a dreamy, open-air gallery that is sure to capture the hearts of all who visit.

4. Another place Aljaz and Janette enjoy visiting is Chocolate Village by the River close to the city of Maribor. The glamping resort is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Natura 2000 nature park right by the river and on the famous international Drava cycling route. Here, everything revolves around chocolate: chocolate breakfasts, chocolate workshops, chocolate cosmetics and chocolate massages – a dream destination for chocolate lovers!

5. The stars also spent time in the stunning capital city of Ljubljana. Like many couples looking for luxury on a romantic break, Aljaz and Janette stayed at the Grand Plaza Hotel, Ljubljana - a five star venue - and the largest hotel - in Ljubljana.

6. If you are looking for more inspiration on where to stay, the couple also spent time at  SIBON Wine & Spa Resort Jeruzalem This elegantly designed resort offers a home from home experience set in an area of natural beauty with views of lush, green landscapes.
