In May 2017 more than 846,000 tourist overnight stays were recorded, 5% more than in May 2016. In more detail, domestic tourists generated 6% more arrivals and 5% more overnight stays, while foreign tourists generated 8% more arrivals and 5% more overnight stays.

Ljubljana first made it on to the list of top 20 bike-friendly cities in the world in 2015, taking 13th place, and this year it improved its ranking. It reached as high as 8th on the “Copenhagenize Bicycle Friendly Cities Index 2017”. You can explore the Slovenian capital with the BicikeLj automated bike sharing system, which is generating record amounts of usage. Just in May the system recorded almost 104,000 rentals.

From 15th–18th June, the 24th Tour of Slovenia cycling road race took place. The Slovenian Tourist Board participated in the project as one of its key partners. This year's race represented a milestone, as it was broadcast live by Eurosport, the world's largest sports channel, and consequently reached 243 million viewers worldwide, among them over 113 million cycling enthusiasts.

The European journey of a new photographic exhibition, “I Feel Slovenia. I Feel Culture.”, which draws on the cultural heritage of Slovenia, starts this year. A selection of 38 photographs by well-known Slovenian photographers, chosen by the Slovenian Government Communication Office and the Ministry of Culture, presents the cultural diversity of the country, using culture in the broadest sense of the word as the foundation of national identity. The exhibition will be on display in several European cities and is currently in Prague until 20th July.
