It has been a year since the moment that astonished and thrilled Postojna Cave, Slovenia and the world. On Saturday, 30th January 2016, the first olm egg was noticed on the glass of Postojna Cave's aquarium. Over the following 8 weeks, the mother olm laid 64 eggs, from which 22 eggs developed into larvae and 21 young have been growing and developing over the past year. Today, they are about 6 cm long.

In the first eleven months of 2016 almost 10.2 million tourist overnight stays were registered, 8% more than in the same period of 2015 (domestic guests 3% and foreigners 10% more). Tourist accommodation providers generated almost 534,000 tourist overnight stays in November 2016, which is 13% more than in November 2015.

In 2016 the Slovenian natural spas operated with great success. The number of arrivals  strengthened by 2.5%, which represents a record number of 700,000 guests and 2.7 million overnight stays, which is three percent more than the previous year.

After the journey, the vloggers published videos on 22 active common accounts on social networks. The videos about Slovenia were seen by a total of 1,304,690 people worldwide on YouTube.

As a queen of innovative world cuisine, Ana’s cooking is based on local, seasonal, Slovenian food. Her approach to cooking is almost scientific, as she allows the ingredients to be fully expressed in her dishes and to retain their authentic flavours. She swears by the philosophy “from the garden to the plate”, and whatever she doesn’t grow in her own herb and vegetable garden, she gets from her wide network of local suppliers.

Visit the lively carnival festivals around green, active and healthy Slovenia! Between 17th and 28th February, Ptuj invites you to visit Kurentovanje, the largest cultural and ethnographic carnival in the country, and one of the largest in Europe. It will begin in Ptuj, the oldest Slovenian town, on 2nd February and reach the peak of the festival on 26th February. The kurent is a traditional Slovenian Shrovetide costume with rattling bells fastened to a sheepskin to chase away winter and call for a good harvest.

One of the Slovenian stories about the tradition of hotel hospitality and leisure and business tourism dates back to the year 1976. Hoteli Bernardin started operating 40 years ago, when two of the hotels of the present Group opened their doors: Hotel Bernardin (now Hotel Histrion) and Hotel Vile Park. A year later Hotel Pečina (now the Grand Hotel Bernardin) was built.
