Slovenia Green Destination Platinum

The highest award of the Slovenian Green Tourism Scheme for destinations is the Slovenia Green Platinum Label.

The Slovenia Green Destination Platinum label is awarded to a destination that has an average of six grades of at least 9.1, subject to a minimum grade of 6.1 in each category, a minimum grade of 8.1 in the Destination Management and Tourism Business Operations categories, and at least one accommodation facility with a valid Slovenia Green Accommodation label. Slovenia Green for restaurants

After being awarded the title of Slovenia - European Region of Gastronomy 2021 and having established the sustainability concept of "from garden to table", the GSST has expanded into the field of gastronomy. As of January 2021, catering service providers can obtain the Slovenia Green label based on having previously obtained the Good Travel Seal or Green Key international sustainability certification. In doing so, they sign the Slovenia Sustainable Gastronomy Commitment, which:

based on Slovenian gastronomic specialities, authentic and seasonal dishes with local character, highlights the exceptional importance of short supply chains of high quality local food providers and stimulates caterers to connect and engage with the local environment, reduce waste, eliminate single-use plastics, use fresh tap water, reduce their carbon footprint, use natural resources sustainably and maintain high hygiene and sanitation standards.

Beaches and bathing areas with a manager can be awarded the Slovenia Green label, based on the internationally recognised Blue Flag environmental label. The Blue Flag programme aims to promote the sustainable development of natural bathing beaches and marinas through demanding criteria in the areas of Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management and Safety.
