Discovering Slovenia with tourist guides

Arrange a guided tour of Slovenia with a qualified licensed tourist guide.

Experience Slovenian tourism in a unique way

Global trends on tourist markets indicate that today’s tourists value authentic experiences that give them an opportunity to connect with the place they are visiting at many levels. They want special moments that create strong emotional connections and memorable experiences that are anything but generic products. They should be personalized and not standardized, unique and not generic, managed but with a sense of individuality, exclusive but accessible, transparent but including elements of surprise, and respecting tradition but taking into account the needs of modern consumers. One of the key parts of a unique presentation of Slovenian tourism is a qualified tourist guide who uses his or her specific knowledge about the natural and cultural heritage of the destination or the individual tourism product to paint a unique picture of the destination for visitors.

Guided tours improve any destination’s tourist programme

Licensed tourist guides are definitely a great source of added value for all tourist programmes.  They turn individual packages, excursions and arrangements into unique experiences, enriching them with interesting local stories and illustrating specific local features and the destination’s character for its visitors. Guided tours are tailored to groups of various generations and interests, making the visitors' experience all the more pleasant and interesting.

Tourist guides

In Slovenia, the profession of tourist guide is regulated by the provisions of the Promotion of Tourism Development Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia [Uradni list RS] No. 13/2018). This Act defines and differentiates between tourist guides, tour leaders, and regional tourist guides.

A "tourist guide" is a person performing the activity of guiding visitors in a chosen language and in accordance with a programme provided in advance, encompassing non-technical explanations of cultural heritage, natural sites of special interest, and special features of individual regions.
