9 out of 100 world's most sustainable destinations are in Slovenia

The fifth annual Global Green Destinations Days 2020 took place between 6 and 8 October. Nine Slovenian destinations were included in the list of the 100 most sustainable destinations.

9 out of 100 world's most sustainable destinations are in Slovenia

Among the 100 world's most sustainable destinations are 9 in Slovenia: Bled, Brda, Soča Valley, Kočevsko, Ljubljana, Logar Valley-Solčava, Miren Kras, Podčetrtek and Rogaška Slatina.

The main purpose of this year's Global Green Destinations Days, which took place online, was again to connect experts, destinations and tourist organizations in the field of sustainability and promote the sustainable tourism and examples of good practices. Three Slovenian destinations were presented for this very purpose: Logar Valley-Solčava, Bled and Miren-Kostanjevica.

At the online launch event, the Green Destinations organization also revealed this year's Sustainable Destinations Top 100 list, which includes as many as nine Slovenian destinations: Bled, Brda, Soča Valley, Kočevsko, Ljubljana, Logar Valley-Solčava, Miren Kras, Podčetrtek and Rogaška Slatina. The list is published every year with the aim of highlighting the best and most inspiring stories of sustainable tourism to both, business and general public.

Applications were evaluated by the Sustainable Top 100 team, experts from individual countries and Green Destinations partners; this year, they particularly emphasized the quality of the applications. The Commission has emphasized that none of the destinations on the list is entirely sustainable, as this is impossible, but that all are taking decisive steps in this area and showing great progress.

The Sustainable Destinations Top 100 selection is conducted each year as part of the Top 100 Partnership with Green Destinations, QualityCoast, TravelMole, Vision on Sustainable Tourism, Travelife, ITB Berlin, Asian Ecotourism Network, Ecotourism Australia and GLP Films.

All destinations that have been included in the list of Sustainable Destinations Top 100 this year are also holders of the Slovenia Green gold label, which confirms that the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism functions well.
