Slovenia Green Gourmet Route
The new Slovenia Green Gourmet Route takes cyclist across the European Region of Gastronomy 2021 and to Michelin Star restaurants, spas, vineyards, and a country full of culture.

Today, the new 10-stage Slovenia Green Gourmet Route has been launched. Starting from Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, the route pedals under the Alps, hugs the Italian border, and then heads to Maribor, in the country's eastern half and along the Drava River.
The trail, which stops in only Green-certified destinations, was designed for all cycling levels and follows quiet country byways and forest roads and takes cyclists to vineyards, farms, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
For travelers and media interested to experience this innovative itinerary and responsible-tourism product, there are many “why now” reasons to cover and visit the Slovenia Green Gourmet Route:
- The Slovenia Green Gourmet Route is a new, entirely green-certified cycling itinerary
- Slovenia is the European Gastronomy Region for 2021
- The country received its first Michelin stars in 2020
- Slovenian cyclists took the top two places in the 2020 Tour de France
The route provides independent travelers with information, maps, and suggested itineraries so they can discover Slovenia's world-class wine and food culture. The route only stops over in cities, towns, and villages that are internationally green certified — sustainable destinations and responsible-travel stewards.
