Welcome to SLOVENIA GREEN Day
The Slovenian Tourist Board and the Slovenia Green consortium welcome you to Slovenia Green Day in Maribor on 12th June. This special day is dedicated to the sustainable development of Slovenian tourism and the enlargement of the Slovenia Green family, which today includes 22 destinations and 11 providers.
The SLOVENIA GREEN Day, held in Hotel City in Maribor, will be divided into 3 parts. The first part is a congress on tourism in the local environment, while the second part is a festive award ceremony for the new Slovenia Green destinations and providers. Before the event closes, we invite you to join us on the Maribor Impact Tour, where we will learn about green efforts and event organisation with positive social impact in practice.
We are looking forward to celebrating with you the high-profile international awards and recognition which Slovenia has recently achieved in green tourism development. We are proud of the international recognition of Slovenia as one of the greenest countries in the world and of the National Geographic’s World Legacy Award.
In 2016 the Slovenian Tourist Board developed the national programme Slovenia Green for tourism destinations and providers. This is an internationally comparable certification system that gathers all the initiatives in green tourism development in Slovenia. It functions as a tool for promoting and improving sustainability in tourism, while at the same time it promotes green destinations and providers, associated under the common brand SLOVENIA GREEN.
