Almost 2 million overnight stays in the first trimester
We are announcing some promising statistical data for Slovenian tourism this year. In 2017’s first quarter tourists generated more than 1.9 million overnight stays, which is 5% more than in the same period last year. Will Slovenian tourism reach a new statistical milestone in 2017, by exceeding 11 million overnight stays by the end of the year?
The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia have published data on overnight stays and arrivals for the first three months of 2017. In the first quarter of this year, Slovenia generated almost 2 million overnight stays; 72% or almost 1,398,000 overnight stays were generated in hotels, 6% in apartment settlements, 5% in company vacation facilities and vacation facilities for young people, and 4% each in campsites and private accommodation.
In the first three months of 2017 domestic tourists generated 7% more tourist arrivals and 4% more overnight stays than in the same period of the previous year. By the same comparison, the number of foreign tourist arrivals increased by 7% and their overnight stays by 5%. The increase in numbers is mostly due to higher numbers of arrivals and overnight stays of domestic tourists.
