Slovenia Made You Green at ITB Berlin

Slovenia is the green heart of Europe, and was this year’s “Convention & Culture” partner country at ITB Berlin 2017, from 8th-12th March. The country between the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Karst and the Pannonian Plain was represented by the slogan Slovenia Makes You Green, which was also seen throughout the entire venue on small green hearts. In addition, the entire world was typing “Slovenia” when connecting to the fair’s Wi-Fi network.

As part of the presentations and events at ITB Berlin 2017, Slovenia was represented by the slogan Slovenia Makes You Green. In the B2B part of the trade show there was a Slovenian expert panel, at which environmental, tourism and development experts from Slovenia presented their efforts and results in the area of developing green tourism. They are the result of a carefully considered strategy and a series of weighty decisions over the past ten years. The participants of the panel, which filled the “New York” hall to the last corner had the opportunity to listen to the creators of green Slovenian stories.

On the same day as the Slovenian Tourist Board received the prestigious National Geographic Legacy Award, the Golden City Gate 2017 gave three stars to a 90-second promotional video “Slovenia. Make New Memories.”. This international competition is intended for exposure to the best film and multimedia promotional material with tourism content. Slovenia was also among the winners of the ITB BookAwards 2017 in the category of Travel Publications, with a traditional travel guide about Slovenia by Dieter Schulze. The aim of the awards is to draw attention to outstanding travel and tourism publications for the discerning reader.

Slovenia was also featured in more interesting inauspicious way. For example, the password for Wi-Fi access at the show was I Feel Slovenia, which Maja Pak, the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board said was "an excellent introduction to Slovenia for every visitor."
