Conventa on the path of sustainable transformation of congress tourism

The essence of the event, which is organized by the Slovenian Convention Bureau in cooperation with Toleranca marketing and strategic partners - STB and Tourism Ljubljana, are business meetings. The event was also attended by MSc. Maja Pak, director of the STB, and Matevž Frangež, state secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. This year's edition is marked by the sustainable transformation of congress tourism. The Conventa Best Event Award will be announced on Friday.

CONVENTA WEEK 2.0.22 is taking place between 23 and 26 August in Ljubljana. It connects three events, Conventa International Business Exchange, Conventa Crossover and Conventa Best Event Awards. This is already its 14th edition and the STB has been a partner since the very beginning.

The event was also attended by MSc. Maja Pak, director of the STB, and Matevž Frangež, state secretary for regional development and tourism at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

Conventa's Green Commitments

The goal of the project is to reduce the carbon footprint per participant. Based on international studies, it is currently estimated at 176.67 kilograms/participant/day.

In the foreground is the green story, within which the organizers promote sustainability, digitalization of the event and energy efficiency, experiences at the location, the quality of the invited guests and the facilitation of relaxed gatherings.

This year, the organizers took on a new challenge - a calculation of the carbon footprint with the help of a foreign partner. "The biggest problem is how to reduce the carbon footprint of transport, which in our case represents 75 of the total footprint. The total number of kilometers traveled by all participants in the event is 506,577, and 116.52 tons is the total amount of CO2 generated by driving," illustrated Gorazd Čad and added that the final results of the measurements will be shared with the public after the event. In the future, they also plan to obtain an ISO certificate for green events.

SIW on Boutique Tour event among Conventa Best Awards finalists

As part of Conventa Crossover, the Best Event Award competition is held, where 43 events were registered. The 13-member international jury pre-selected the submitted projects and selected 28 events that made it to the semi-finals, including the main Slovenian Tourist Board's business event, SIW on Boutique Tour. In the second phase of evaluations, the expert jury evaluated each project according to the following criteria: creativity, relevance, innovation, implementation, event results, event communication, sustainability and overall final impression.

The winners will be announced today, August 26, in the afternoon.
