Tourism in Slovenia is on the rise! Statistics January-October are here!

Tourism in Slovenia is still on the rise. In the first ten months, more than 5 million tourist arrivals and more than 13.6 million tourist overnight stays were recorded.

Foreign guests generated 3.8 million arrivals and 9.9 million overnight stays. When it comes to comparing the data with the same period of 2017, it is necessary to consider the impact of the establishment of two new data sources (RNA, eTourism) and changed methodology of data capture (without threshold), which is estimated as a 10% increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays according to the latest estimates of SORS. This makes the data not directly comparable to last year's data. Considering this, we estimate that in the first ten months of 2018, in comparison with 2017, the growth of tourist arrivals (foreign income + 14.1%) and the growth of tourist overnight stays (foreign overnight stays + 25.8%) was recorded by 9.4 %.

Growth data for October 2018/2017 show 27.8% growth in foreign overnight stays (with the above methodology taken into account).

The leading markets in terms of tourist arrivals are Italy with 12.14 %, Germany with 12.12 %, Austria with 8.45 %, the Netherlands with 4.47% and Croatia with 4.43%. If we compare the number of foreign overnight stays, Germany comes first (12.78%), followed by Italy (10.87%) and Austria 8.8%.
