Slovenia House at the Winter Olympic Games
Slovenia House was an integral part of Slovenia’s presence at the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. It hosted a number of events to promote the country, including the event organized by the Slovenian Tourist Board.
During the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, the Slovenia House, located at the golf club in the Alpensia ski resort near the Olympic Village and the venues for ski jumps, biathlon, cross-country skiing and technical Alpine skiing disciplines, hosted athletes and representatives of national teams and Olympic committees, business executives, sponsors and Slovenian fans.
Slovenia House was an integral part of Slovenia’s presence at the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. Visitors had a chance to get to know Slovenia, it’s culture and traditions. The house resembling a kozolec, the traditional Slovenian hayrack, hosted presentations of Slovenian tourism and a number of culinary events.
The project was supported by Kolektor and the Slovenian state as the main partners (SPIRIT, Slovenian Tourist Board, Government Communication Office and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology). In addition, many other prominent Slovenian companies, such as ELAN, Alpina, Hosekra and Jezeršek Catering participated in the promotion.
The Slovenian Tourist Board invited 40 travel agents and representatives of various media, such as Travie, Korean Economic Daily, Goon, Korean Travel News, to their event at the Slovenia House, to present the beauties of the country and promote it as an attractive green, active and healthy destination.
On various occasions, the visitors had a chance to taste the Slovenian traditional food. When biathlete Jakov Fak won silver in the men's 20-kilometre race, and Žan Košir bronze in the parallel giant slalom, potica, the traditional Slovenian rolled cake, which is also one of the Pope’s favourite desserts, was presented to him instead of a cake.
