Bohinj among the top 10 destinations to visit in 2018

European Best Destinations, a European organization based in Brussels, has listed Bohinj, the Slovenian alpine pearl, among top ten best destinations to visit in Europe in 2018. The selection of the best European destinations for 2018 is based on the on-line three-week survey filled in by 320,793 people. The title of Best European Destination 2018 went to Poland's Wroclaw.

The authors of the European Best Destinations list highlight Bohinj as one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Slovenia and a perfect destination for active getaway, be it in winter or in summer. Lying amidst the mighty peaks of the Julian Alps, only a short drive from the famous lake Bled, Bohinj forms part of Triglav National Park, which features 7000 animal species and 1600 plant species. The area also hosts the International Wild Flower Festival at the end of May and the beginning of June, when whole valley blossoms in magnificent colours.

Thanks to its sustainable orientation and commitment to preserving environment, biodiversity and the traditional way of life, Bohinj has managed to maintain a healthy environment and successfully follows the trends of sustainable mobility, with minimum impact on the natural environment and traditional agriculture.

The organisation also praises Slovenia as a country that "evokes nature, forest, lakes, authenticity, outdoor activities and encourages you to recharge your batteries, disconnecting from routine".
