The Scent of Roses in Nova Gorica

The Rose Festival takes place in the loveliest month of the year and it offers many delicious, scented and educational experiences to visitors to Nova Gorica, the town of roses. It is known for its unique collection of the bourbon rose (the rose of the 19th century) at Kostanjevica Monastery. This year, the traditional exhibitions, rose market and programme is accompanied by a culinary surprise. The ambassadors of GoGourmet will provide menus with local and seasonal ingredients and offer culinary masterpieces. Have you tried their rose dessert?

The Scent of Roses in Nova Gorica

The organisers of the Rose Festival, Tourism Nova Gorica, are preparing culinary delights, professional lectures and a selection of the most beautiful bourbon roses in the garden of the Kostanjevica Franciscan Monastery. They will also announce the owner of the prettiest rose garden in the town and organise a rose market.

Ambassadors of the local cuisine are restaurants that have united under the brand GoGourmet. They are preparing a special surprise for all the guests and visitors; you will have the chance to try rose jam and rose juice. Even the desserts will be made from roses.

Bourbon roses, the roses of the 19th century, are now mostly extinct in the world. In Nova Gorica, the city of roses, the last preserved representatives were given a special place and became the second largest public collection of the original Bourbon roses in Europe. They flourish in the approximate vicinity of the resting place of the last French kings, the Bourbons, in the garden of the Franciscan Monastery at Kostanjevica. Thousands of them bloom in May and June. Visit the town of roses!
