In the first eight months of this year, a 10% increase in the number of tourists visiting Slovenia has been recorded.
In the first eight months of this year, a 10% increase in the number of tourists visiting Slovenia has been recorded. Provisional data by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SORS) regarding tourist overnight stays from January up to and including August show an 8% increase in tourist arrivals and a 6% increase in overnight stays compared to the same period in 2015. The positive trend of growth in the number of domestic and international tourists is continuing.
Current data on the performance of the Slovenian tourism industry show that tourism is an increasingly important economic industry in Slovenia, with a great potential for further growth. Last year, for the first time since the declaration of independent Slovenia, the number of overnight stays exceeded 10 million, while the inflow from travel services exceeded €2.2 billion. This year, the positive trend is continuing. The number of foreign tourists has increased by 10%, with an 8% increase in foreign tourist overnight stays. From January to August, Slovenia recorded a 71% visit of foreign tourists, of which 66% chose to stay overnight. During the first eight months of this year, the number of domestic tourists increased by 4%, with a 2% increase in domestic tourist overnight stays.
