Ljubljana is now richer for one small, boutique hotel, which offers a truly special experience of the Slovenian capital. The Antiq Palace is located in the old town centre, in a 16th century villa once inhabited by an aristocratic family, and now it offers luxury accommodation in exclusive, period-furnished apartments.

The picturesque furnishings of the hotel, which is a member of the Historic Hotels of Europe association and Schlosshotels & Herrenhäuser, are modelled after the original designs, and in places parts of the original mural paintings are preserved. The exclusive Antiq Palace (Antiq Hotel Spa 4****) is now the second hotel in the chain of boutique hotels in Ljubljana established with the original Antiq Hotel.

The Antiq Palace boasts 13 spacious residential suites, each measuring 100 m2 or more, including three penthouse suites. The suites comprise bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining room and bathroom with massage bath. The hotel facilities are enhanced by the luxuriously appointed spa centre, with three types of sauna and a gym, three lounge bars, numerous little nooks for relaxing and reading, and two interior gardens to provide a different kind of city hotel experience.

The hotel is an ideal base for those seeking to discover the city or for a romantic city break, as well as for business people, since the entire city is there at your doorstep, and the hotel facilities include a business centre with full services and three conference rooms.

The exquisite location of the residence is equally of historical significance, as almost exactly 2,000 years ago it was the location of the ancient necropolis in the roman settlement of Emona (Iulia Aemona). The unique location of Antiq Spa residence is also complemented by the inimitable history of the building, the first written records and mention of which date back to the beginning of the 16th century. The building was the city residential palace of a Slovenian noble family, which is mirrored in its unique character.

In credit to its inimitable features and rich history, Antiq Spa has been recognised as one of the first members of the Historic Hotels of Europe in Slovenia, and its authentic design has been captured by Hubertus von Hohenlohes in his issue of 500 Very Special Hotels of the World. The ideas and inspiration for the renovation of Antiq Spa were taken from the original features of the buildings such as walls, staircases, windows and frescoes, which also became the centrepieces for the interior design. The use of natural materials such as stone, wood and lime helps the walls to "breathe" and thus stimulates natural air circulation and pleasant air temperatures, enabling guests to enjoy a good night`s sleep.

Over the last five years, Ljubljana has increased its accommodation capacities by almost 40 percent, for the most part with small hotels that can adapt their services ideally to the specific needs of individual target groups. In this way the Antiq Palace, together with the first boutique hotel in the chain, the Antiq Hotel, appeals to demanding individual visitors to Ljubljana, for whom a superlative and luxurious hotel environment represents an important element of experiencing the city.
