UNWTO has announced the Ulysses award winners and Slovenia is among them. The Slovenian Association for Mental Health ŠENT received as one of the three winners in the category of Innovation in the non-governmental organisations the award for the development of tourist offer which is accessible to visitors with special needs.

UNWTO has announced the Ulysses award winners and Slovenia is among them. The Slovenian Association for Mental Health ŠENT received as one of the three winners in the category of Innovation in the non-governmental organisations the award for the development of tourist offer which is accessible to visitors with special needs.
Since 2006, ŠENT is implementing various projects in the field of accessible tourism. The award winning project Movements – development of accessible tourism in Slovenia has evolved in the framework of international projects NETMEN, ET, ITTI, and TURAG4ALL, funded by the European Union, EEA programme, Norwegian mechanism and the budget of the Republic of Slovenia. M. Sc. Nace Kovač, Executive Director of the Slovenian Association for Mental Health ŠENT, said upon receiving the award: "This award represents an important contribution to the development of social economy and entrepreneurship, as we at ŠENT have proven with an innovative idea and preserving the values such as reciprocity, community care, non-discrimination and respect that this approach is the right way to creating long-term and effective solutions."
The Ulysses award is awarded by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for projects carried out by public institutions in tourism, tourism enterprises and non-governmental organisations that represent an innovative contribution to the field of tourism policy, management and other areas of tourism, such as the environment, developmental cooperation, new technologies and others.
The official award ceremony took place in the framework of the UNWTO Tourism and Science Forum, which was organised by the UNWTO from 1st – 3rd June in Portugal in the town of Vilamoura.
