A new Julian Alps tourist brochure

The Alps stretch across eight different countries with about 13 million inhabitants. Next to the Mediterranean, they represent the largest tourist region in Europe and are visited annually by about 100 million holiday-goers. In terms of tourism, the Julian Alps are the ones that have found the most recognition in Slovenia and they are highlighted in a new tourist brochure.

Geographically, the Alps in Slovenia are made up of the Julian Alps with Triglav, the Karavanke mountain range (with the oldest rocks in Slovenia) and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps (with the remains of the lowest lying glacier and an Alpine foreland with easily accessible peaks). The Julian Alps are the most visited in terms of tourism and connect the most recognised Slovenian alpine tourist centres such as Bled, Bohinj and Kranjska Gora on the side of the Gorenjska Region and Bovec, Tolmin and Kobarid on the coastal side or in the Soča Valley. The highest peak of the Julian Alps is Triglav (2,864 metres), which is at the same time the highest peak in Slovenia and its national symbol.

The brochure is available in Slovene, English, German, Italian and French and invites all to experience the Julian Alps. The brochure features a review of available activities in the area and pertinent information about the tourist offer from the members of the Julian Alps Association – Bled, Bohinj, the Soča Valley (Tolmin and Kobarid), Bovec, Kranjska Gora and the Triglav National Park.
