Discover Celje and Maribor in the region of Styria

This time, we shall go to the east of Slovenia, to Celje and Maribor, two cities known for the warmth and kindness of their inhabitants. Celje was marked by the counts of Celje, and Maribor is known for its cultural events and wine production in the surrounding green hills of Pohorje.

Let’s start the day in the City of the Counts. Celje is a city that prides itself on its rich history. In medieval times, the town drew its power and pride from the Counts of Celje, who spread the splendor of the three stars of Celje across Europe. Afterwards, we continue to Maribor, Slovenia`s second biggest city, which was the European capital of culture in the year 2012. It lies along the banks of the river Drava, at the foot of the Pohorje mountain range, where the women`s Alpine Skiing World Cup competition for the Golden Fox Trophy is held annually.
