Along with Bled, Piran and Postojna cave, the Logarska Valley is definitely one of the most recognisable images of Slovenia and, at the same time, one of Europe’s most beautiful glacial alpine valleys. This is an excellent choice for everyone who loves relaxed walks away from the crowds, with inspiring views of the mountains, waterfalls, pastures and forests. It`s a place for anyone who appreciates tradition and life as it once was, in harmony with nature and who enjoys being active in such an environment.

The area, called the harmony of three valleys, is composed of three valleys: the most famous one is the Logarska Valley, followed by Matkov kot and Robanov kot. The landscapes bear witness to the strong connection of the locals with nature through the centuries.

Our hints to explore the Solčavsko Region and the three valleys:

- In this land of big old farms, venerable trees and waterfalls, you can experience ancient stories and treat yourself to typical local specialities!
- The Logarska Valley is an excellent starting point for hiking to the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and for diverse cycling discoveries.
- We suggest that you start your discovery in the multipurpose centre for sustainable development of the Solčavsko Region – Rinka, which represents a centre and entry point into the Solčavsko Region. Here, you will have the opportunity to attend an exhibition and multimedia presentation that will help you get to know the Solčavsko Region from the other side; then, go on to taste local products.
- Head for the Solčavsko panoramic path! You can walk or cycle! The path runs under the slopes of the Olševa Mountain and offers beautiful views along the path.
- You can visit the Potočka Zijalka museum and see the oldest needle in the world – from the times of cavemen. The museum presents the dwelling of the cave bears and our ancestors - thirty thousand years ago this cave was the home of Ice Age hunters! Also learn the story of the Savinja river gorge, which 100 years ago, prevented simple access to the valley. It is because of this gorge that the valley has been preserved in all its natural and cultural originality.
- You can also enjoy a wool-making demonstration and a presentation of the autochthonous breed of Jezersko-Solčavsko sheep.
- You can head to the two famous waterfalls – Palent and Rinka.
- Another idea is to visit the Fairy-tale forest in Logarska Valley, where world-famous and Slovenian fairy-tale and local tales are presented along the wooden houses in the forest.
- You can also visit a mountain farm and become familiarised with life above 1000 metres – life as it once was.
- The TIC Solčava – Rinka Centre has prepared diverse active programmes, while programmes are also available for families with children, for individuals or for couples. You can hire an experienced guide, a bicycle or other equipment. During the hiking and cycling trips you will become familiar with the pulse of life, the tradition and the local cuisine in this area.

- TOP TIP: Visit the “bicka” sheep`s wool festival (around 20 September 2013) and get to know the story of the indigenous breed of sheep called jezersko-solčavska.

Where to stay?

- You can choose among the numerous tourist farms, inns, private rooms or apartments where you can find peace to explore the Solčavsko Region. You can also stay in Hotel Plesnik.
- You can try something else. Experience sleeping in a barn or in the treetops; Raduha House offers both, in the middle of the famous Logarska Valley, with an ear for architectural perfection, natural environment and individuals.

The Solčavsko Region received the European Destination of Excellence title in 2009 for its unique integration of the preservation of nature with the life of the local community and the curiosity of visitors from all around the world.
