The magazine National Geographic Traveler has placed Slovenia on a few important lists. The tourist package Green Charms of Slovenia was selected as one of the "50 Tours of a Lifetime." The Kozjak Waterfall was singled out as especially worth seeing. The walking route Alpe Adria Trail connecting Austria, Slovenia and Italy was ranked among 10 of the Best New Walking Trails in the world.

Kensington Tours, a leading tourist agency specialising in adventure travel, drew up an award-winning luxury tour of Slovenia. The "Green charms of Slovenia" tour includes highlights of Slovenia`s natural and cultural heritage such as Logarska dolina, Bled, Lepena, Livek, Goriška Brda and Ljubljana. The National Geographic Traveler editorial team was especially impressed by the Kozjak Waterfall. The tour, which puts special emphasis on the Slovenian countryside and cultural heritage, is packed with hands-on experiences – bee-keeping, pottery making, cooking žlikrofi (tiny tortellini) – and encounters with farmers and artisans. This journey is full of authentic experiences and provides an insight into Slovenia`s intact landscape and culture.
The Alpe Adria Trail, a six-hour hiking trail ranking among 10 of the Best New Walking Trails in the world also gained international recognition. This walking trail connecting Austria, Slovenia and Italy leads from the foot of the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, in Carinthia across western Slovenia. The trail consists of 43 stages, each of about 20 kilometres (12 miles) in length, and ends in the city of Trieste in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The hiking experience is enriched by a diverse cultural, art and culinary programme. Opened in late April in the Goriška Brda Region, the trail is indeed among the most beautiful in the world; but what makes it special is that it connects three different cultures: the Roman, the Germanic and the Slavic.
