Shopping trips Slovenian style

Green, healthy and active Slovenia abounds in places of natural beauty and breathtaking panoramas, but true shopping adventures take place in our lively towns. Of course it is the same as with other adventures you experience here. You can shop in Slovenia as in any metropolis but when you finish you are relaxed and not at all tired, because everything is within easy reach and accessible within a short distance. On offer is a wide varied range distinguished by local characteristics combined with leading international brands. Take a walk in the centres of Slovenian towns, stroll along the lively marketplaces, visit shopping centres or enjoy yourself in the small boutique shops and art markets. The largest shopping, business, entertainment and cultural centre in Europe can be found in the capital of Ljubljana.

Town centres are particularly lively at weekends, when the locals and visitors go to the markets to shop. In addition to being a fun social gathering, such shopping trips enable you to fill your shopping basket with healthy local produce and other products. Buy homemade honey, milk and dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables. Visit art markets in larger towns and buy yourself unique, handmade jewellery or other pieces of art. A visit to Ljubljana Market Place is a special experience! An open colonnade under arcades hosts stalls with spices and handicraft products, while the main section of the market is adorned with lively colourful fruit and vegetables and the smiles of market traders who love to engage in conversation.

Buying antiques at flea markets has a special value and charm. The markets are meeting places for collectors, sellers and artists who are happy show their skills and talk about their collections with passers-by. Lovers of unique products can visit boutique stores in town centres, choose Slovenian products and take a small piece of Slovenia with them in the form of traditional souvenirs and gifts.

Stop at shopping centres and supermarkets on the outskirts of larger Slovenian towns. A mere ten minutes from the centre of Ljubljana you can find BTC City – the largest shopping, business, entertainment and cultural centre in Europe. More than 500 shops can be found in this city of fun, which also includes the largest hotel in Ljubljana, an amusement and water park, many restaurants and an even a business accelerator. Internationally recognised brands and popular Slovenian boutiques can also be found here. Visit Europark in Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia. Europark is the most modern shopping centre in the Štajerska region. Visit the town centre of Celje, the city of counts, not far from Maribor, which is also known for its lively town centre and like Ljubljana is closed for traffic, and its Citycenter on the outskirts.

To make your shopping adventures even more attractive and carefree, join one of the guided shopping tours around Ljubljana. Visit small boutiques of Slovenian fashion designers and shops with unique products. Listen to advice on fashion trends, enjoy the good company and explore Slovenia’s capital with other fashion enthusiasts.
