Slovenia Receives Distinguished Architizer A+ Awards

Slovenia inspires athletes and scientists as well as artists and architects. The work of Slovenian architects was recognized by the Architizer A+ Awards, which honoured two Slovenian projects. In the category of parking structures, the jury awarded the first prize to the Promenada Car Park in Velenje, designed by the ENOTA bureau, while the ski jumping hills in Planica, the work of Abiro architects and Studio AKKA landscape design bureau, won the audience award.

Two Slovenian projects dominate this year`s architectural achievements, having received the prestigious prize and medal awarded by Architizer A+ Awards. Their architecture portal is one of the most popular in the world, browsed annually by over a million visitors. In the category of parking structures, the Promenada Car Park in Velenje, the work of the ENOTA architectural bureau, was rewarded by the expert jury, while the ski jump hills in Planica, the work of Abiro architects and Studio AKKA landscape design bureau, won first prize in the category of recreational centres by popular choice.

The jury reviewed over 3,000 candidate works from 80 countries, and the winners included both new architectural bureaus and well-established international firms. As a unique feature of the Arhitizer A+ Awards, projects are voted for by all visitors of the portal, and the audience favourites are not always consistent with the jury`s selection. Awards are thus granted in two categories – audience-selected and jury-selected.

The Architizer portal awards prizes for places and buildings in over 50 categories. The jury consists of over 200 experts, architects, leaders from the fields of culture, development and industry, as well as others who commission and support architectural works across the entire world.
