Slovenian airports post record travellers

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport and Portorož airport recorded a 10% increase in passengers in 2015. All together the airports generated 1.46 million passengers. The first flight connecting Maribor and Düsseldorf took off from Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport at the beginning of May.

Most of the passengers using flight connections to or from green, active and healthy Slovenia in 2015 travelled through Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The number of travellers has increased by 9.9%, which resulted in 1.44 million passengers. About 90% of all flights were scheduled flights, and their number has increased by 12%. The highest number of passengers travelled on routes from Slovenia to Germany, followed by connections to the United Kingdom. The highest increase in passengers were on routes between Slovenia and Switzerland.

In Maribor, the first connecting flight between Slovenia’s second biggest city and Düsseldorf in Germany successfully announced the beginning of a regular route between the two cities, which flies twice a week in the summer flight schedule. In the future Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport is expecting further development of flight connections, and is also aiming to strengthen its recognition and popularity.
