Slovenia – one of Europe’s best countries, according to you!

The Telegraph newspaper asked its readership to name the best countries in Europe. Of 75,000 responses, green, active and healthy Slovenia ranked in 10th place. "Slovenia has a store of attractions and activities – from Venetian coastal towns to white-water rafting – to rival a country many times its size," says Telegraph Travel’s Slovenia expert Steve Fallon.

Slovenia ranked in the list of the best European countries, according to the readers of the Telegraph, one of the biggest travel media in the world.

Treat yourself to a vacation in green, unspoilt nature. Over half of Slovenia is covered by forests, which is why it is known as one of the greenest countries in the world. Boost your heart rate in sports-minded company; cycling and hiking are two of the most popular outdoor activities in Slovenia. Over 10,000km of cycling and hiking paths are available just minutes from urban centres.

You can also do something good for your health in one of the 14 Slovenian natural health resorts or by trying out the excellent local cuisine in one of the 24 culinary regions and 14 wine-growing districts. Stop in Ljubljana, which holds the title of the European Green Capital 2016 for its sustainable development and green actions in the past. It is the first European capital to adopt the Zero waste management strategy and stands as a role-model to other urban destinations.
