Slovenian tourism in 25 years

On 25th June, Slovenia marked 25 years since gaining its independence. For the anniversary, the Slovenian Tourist Board prepared an overview of Slovenian tourism during the last quarter of a century.

Tourism in green, active and healthy Slovenia is an important activity that contributes around 13% of GDP. It accounts for 37.6% of exports, which brings in €2.4 billion. Over the last 25 years, Slovenia has set some important milestones for its tourism, hosting over 59 million tourists, who generated 187 million overnight stays. Almost every 8th person in Slovenia works in tourism, which is above the European and the world average. According to the Global Peace Index, Slovenia is the 10th safest country in the world.
