International Tourist Guide Day 2021

Established by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA), International Tourist Guide Day is a professional holiday celebrated each year on February 21 since 1990. See how we celebrate it in Slovenia this year.

International Tourist Guide Day 2021

International Tourist Guide Day celebrated on 21 February is aimed at raising public awareness about the fact that tourists guides are great ambassadors of the destination they present. Through stories, tour guides can give you a whole new perspective on a place you are visiting and broaden your horizon.

Slovenia has a well-established network of tour guides. Wherever you decide to visit the country, you will encounter stunning scenery and vibrant cities that will amaze you with their more or less hidden assets. Each place also harbours its own stories and secrets, which can not be discovered on your own. Therefore, it is worth booking a guided tour, where local tour guides entertain you with intriguing stories that will shed a new light on the town. Here, you can read about additional reasons for booking a guided tour when traveling around Slovenia.

This year, the tours organised on the occasion of the International Tourist Guide will take place online, from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 February 2021. Numerous virtual tours will take place. Maribor, for example, will prepare a virtual live presentation of the city at 11 am CEST on their Facebook page.
