The long-distance Juliana hiking trail will get even longer!
In October, 4 new stages will be added to the existing 270-km long circular Juliana trail. And there is also an app for the trail available.

The Juliana long-distance hiking trail, which winds in a circle around the highest peaks of the Julian Alps, will be extended to Goriška this autumn. In October, 4 new stages will officially open, which will take you from Tolmin via Kolovrat through Brda to Solkan. The first two new stages connect the Kolovrat ridge, which is a natural barrier between the Friuli lowlands and the Soča valley. Throughout the route, hikers can take a look at the remains from the time of the Isonzo Front. The last two stages pass through Brda, with their meeting point being the medieval village of Šmartno. The last stage ends in Solkan via Sabotin. You can return by train back to Bohinj.
There is another great new thing available with regards to the Juliana Trail: a mobile app, which will enable easier navigation. The app is available for download on Apple store and on Google Play.
The Juliana Trail offers an exciting opportunity to explore the area at the doorway to the Julian Alps, leading you under the high peaks and inviting you to explore them. It is not only the nature that is breathtaking on the trail, but also several cultural features and great food stops.
