New Gastronomic Developments in Slovenia

On 4 December at the Dvor Jezeršek company in Zgornji Brnik, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB), the Darila Rokus publishing house and the Digital Studio company presented three new appearances in the field of gastronomy-related marketing and developments in Slovenia. The gastronomic offering of Slovenia now includes the new “Taste Slovenia” tourist catalogue, the “Slovenia – Gastronomy” DVD and the “Taste Slovenia” book.

The “Taste Slovenia” catalogue, published by the STB this year, features a presentation of the Slovenian culinary arts from 24 Slovenian gastronomic regions with 173 typical Slovenian dishes. The presentation is supplemented with overviews of the more important gastronomic events, the protected special agricultural produce and foodstuffs and a list of inns, restaurants and tourist farms offering one or more of the presented dishes on their menus.

The “Taste Slovenia” book is the first complete overview of Slovenia’s gastronomic identity, represented by 24 gastronomic regions and 170 select dishes from these regions. Dr Janez Bogataj, co-author of The Strategy of Slovenian Gastronomy in 2006, is the author of this book while photographs of the dishes were provided by Tomo Jeseničnik and the design was done by Žare Kerin.

The “Slovenia – Gastronomy” DVD, available in seven languages and takes the viewer through the gastronomic regions of Slovenia, presenting the best and most typical dishes with help from true masters and experts of this field. The host, Peter Poles, goes on a journey across four Slovenian gastronomic regions: the Pannonian, the Mediterranean, the Central and the Alpine Slovenia.
