Jože Pučnik Airport, Ljubljana, welcomed the first airplane on a direct charter flight from Japan to Slovenia on Friday, 29 August, at 18:40.

On this occasion Aerodrom Ljubljana hosted a press conference on the significance of the inaugural charter flight service between Japan and Slovenia. The speakers at the press conference were the Minister of the Economy, Mr Andrej Vizjak; Japanese Ambassador to Slovenia, H.E. Shigeharu Maruyama; Slovenian Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Miran Skender; General Manager, International Affairs & Tourism Promotion, JTB Corp., Mr Toru Furusawa; Director of Slovenian Tourist Board, Mr Dimitrij Piciga; Chairman of the Board of Aerodrom Ljubljana, Mr Zmago Skobir; and Ms Kazuyo Itaya, Regional Manager Austria & Central Europe Region, Japan Airlines International Co., Ltd., the airline operating the charter flights between Japan and Slovenia.
The speakers all shared the view that direct charter flights will contribute to the ongoing growth in the number of Japanese visitors to Slovenia and also to the proper positioning of Slovenia as an interesting European tourist destination for Japanese tourists in Europe.
