Slovenia Tourist Destination Among Strongest, Most Valuable Slovenian Brands

Ljubljana Castle hosted the Superbrands 2008 award ceremony on Wednesday, 28 January 2009. This year's most prominent Slovenian brands also included the Slovenia Tourist Destination. The award was accepted by Mr Dimitrij Piciga, MSc, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB).

The international Superbrands organisation is the only global and independent authority on branding in the world.
It operates in more than 73 countries worldwide, including Slovenia since 2006. The organisation, whose principal activity is to identify and award remarkable brands, analyses the performance of individual brands on all the key world markets and picks out those more successful than their competitors. Over a period of ten years, Superbrands has evolved into an authoritative gauge of success of an individual brand, and the organisation as such is today regarded as the global authority and arbiter on branding.
The leading brands are carefully picked out by a council of experts, which is made up of business and marketing professionals, agencies, and representatives of the media. Brands are assessed by the council members based on four criteria – quality, reliability, emotional charge, and distinction.
The Slovenia Tourist Destination has received the Superbrands award for the first time. What is more, this year the Superbrand award in the tourist destination category was also won by the Ljubljana Tourist Destination.
The Slovenian Tourist Board takes great pride in the fact that the Slovenia Tourist Destination ranked among the strongest and most valuable Slovenian brands, as a large part of STB's activities focuses on the promotion of Slovenia, which at the same drives the promotion and development of our national brand. These efforts will continue in the future, and the Superbrands award will serve as another hallmark of Slovenia for successful promotion on the home and international markets.
