On the first day of summer, 10 Tourist Information Points (TIPs) will open their doors in Slovenian Istria, joining the six Tourist Information Centres already operating in the area. On the first day of summer, 10 Tourist Information Points (TIPs) will open their doors in Slovenian Istria, joining the six Tourist Information Centres already operating in the area. This is a new activity under the aegis of the Koper Tourist Board, the Portorož Tourism Association and the Izola Tourism Industry Association, which have invited the collaboration of 10 tourism providers operating in the catering and/or accommodation sector or managing cultural and natural heritage.
The reason for setting up the TIPs is to increase the visibility of tourism products and services in Slovenian Istria, increase the information available to tourists, promote the growth of quality tourism products and accompanying services, raise the awareness of the local population and encourage a positive attitude towards tourists and tourism and, last but not least, encourage the development and marketing of integrated tourism products in the area. Setting up a TIP naturally represents an additional promotional value for the provider. In order to ensure that the tourism providers entitled to use the "TIP Slovenian Istria" name are able to offer tourists suitable information, the three tourism organisations on the coast held a training session at which they acquainted them with the entire range of tourism products and services in Slovenian Istria. This is the first phase of the TIP project. By next year, a total of 20 TIPs are expected to have been opened. Setting up TIPs is important for the development and interconnection of Slovenian Istria as a single tourist destination.
