This private collection of
hunting trophies, situated in the town of
Lesce, takes you into the world of the diverse fauna of the Slovene forests and mountains. The collection is further complemented by exotic African animals and Canadian bears as well as a selection of hunting weapons.
Among the Slovene animals on display are red deer, roe deer, forest birds, brown bear, wild boar, edible dormouse, cormorant and small predators such as foxes, beech marten, badgers and wildcats. There are also other animals to attract your attention, particularly the magnificent elk, Canadian bears, African antelopes and warthog.
This well-presented collection, created by its owners Anton and Antonija Torkar, exhibits the fruit of their several decades of hunting activities. In 2011, they arranged the museum, which adjoins their house, and where visitors are welcome upon prior arrangement. They are happy to answer visitor's questions and explain not only the importance of hunting but also the reasons for it.
