Ljubljana Airport is one of the five founding partners of Giz SPOT (besides Ljubljana Airport, Istrabenz, Sava, Globtour and the Institute for Tourism Ljubljana), the purpose of which is to accelerate and increase the number of tourists arriving to Slovenia by plane.

The SPOT consortium is organised as an economic interest association. It was founded with the purpose of organising a faster and higher arrival of foreign visitors by planes into Slovenia. Namely, visitors who arrive by plane are the biggest consumers; the numbers of such visitors to Slovenia are relatively small. Therefore, the mission of the consortium is to operate on foreign markets with Slovenia's tourist offer and in partnership with tour organisers and airline companies.

Since the operation of the consortium, two low-cost airlines have started to operate in Slovenia, while the number of tourists arriving to Slovenia by plane has strongly increased.
