Slovenia will be the first of the new EU member states to introduce the euro, and it will thereby become the thirteenth member of the European Monetary Union to take part in the advantages of using the single currency. Some of these advantages will be obvious: abolishing currency exchange fees and ending the problem of fluctuating exchange rates, for example. Some other benefits of the single currency will only begin to show themselves after some time, for example better competitiveness on financial markets and better investment opportunities.
