The village of Abitanti is located only a few dozen metres from the Croatian boarder, accessible via the road from under Črni Kal, past Gračišče and Gradin. Today mostly deserted, the village becomes busy in the month of May, hosting a traditional international fine art colony. Most of the village buildings are very interesting from the architectural point of view and are a protected cultural heritage site.
