The Sava Bohinjka is a river having no spring, as it is born from Bohinj Lake. It is classical grayling water with excellent fish fond of other species. All categories of grayling are present in large numbers, and the best of them can be trophy individuals of 50 cm and more. The brown trout population is bigger than its share in the catch suggests, where the aggressive rainbow trout predominates. Simultaneously, the Sava Bohinjka is an outstanding huchen stream. The huchen may not always reach record size, but its numbers are such that it may be successfully fished and caught by fly-fishing.
Bohinjsko jezero (Bohinj Lake) is Slovenia’s largest natural lake. Its predominant fish is the char, which is mostly caught by deep fishing from boats. In certain areas, it is also possible to catch it with artificial flies. The lake trout is a rare catch, as only individual fishermen catch it trolling. The chub on the surface, the burbot in the depths and the perch along the lake shore are additional fish species that are interesting to the sports fisherman.
Blejsko jezero (Bled Lake) and its island are the central tourist attraction of Gorenjska region. It is famous among fishermen for its trophy individuals of carp, weighing in excess of 20 kg. The wels, pike and pike-perch are among them too. Fishing is possible trolling from a boat and angling from the shore.
